On Sunday, January 6, 2013, 8 year old Quinn Kirsch had a normal day. It started with donuts & mite hockey practice with his team. Quinn ran errands with his dad Kyle, played with his new puppy Lucky & skated on the backyard rink with his family. After dinner, Quinn was playing with Lucky when he collapsed on the kitchen floor. Kyle revived him while Quinn's mom called 911. Quinn was rushed to Children's Hospital, but he did not survive the night. It wasn't until weeks later the family learned what had taken Quinn so suddenly: Viral Myocarditis. Quinn's family has partnered with the Myocarditis Foundation: monies raised through Quinn's Cup assist the foundations' efforts to educate & fund research. In 2015 Quinn's Cup was able to fully fund the Myocarditis Foundation research grant in Quinn's name. THANK YOU!
In September of 2015, Kelly & Kyle attended the Myocarditis Foundation annual Researcher & Patient family Support Meeting in Maryland. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet the founder of the Myocarditis Foundation, Candace Moose (a Myocarditis survivor), along with many other families who've lost children to Myocarditis. In addition, they were able to meet Dr. Michael Bode, who is conducting research at UNC Chapel Hill with the The Quinn Kirsch grant he received from the foundation. Also in attendance, Dr. Leslie Cooper, Medical Director & co-founder of the foundation & Chair of Cardiovascular Department at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Dr Cooper is the foremost expert on Myocarditis and attended the very first Quinn's Cup in 2013.
We've raised over $170,000 for The Myocarditis Foundation! THANK YOU!
